From a cycle of restrictive diets, binge eating and shame to a toolkit of empowerment and freeing self-talk.

When we started working together, she felt shame about her eating habits. She opted for coaching as she was feeling out of control. In her 40s, having struggled with her weight for years, she was tired of a familiar cycle: losing the weight, then watching it return, without ever understanding why. She wanted to find the root cause of it and not just manage the symptoms again.

Together, we identified patterns in her eating that hadn't been obvious to her before – the moments and feelings that triggered the cycle. Once she could see them, she could start to work with them instead of being controlled by them. As much as anything, the work was about letting go of the shame she'd carried around it for so long, and learning to approach herself with curiosity instead of self-criticism.

As part of this process, one of the first habits we changed was around the language she used. Rather than frame her decisions around food as being “good” or “bad”, we reframed them as “choices”. Together we planned strategies for big events and celebrations, identifying behaviour patterns and recognising the choices she could make.

She now has a set of tools she can reach for whenever she feels herself starting to lose control. They give her practical, repeatable ways of catching the pattern before it takes hold, and language to use with herself that doesn't end with shame.

“I would absolutely recommend coaching with Rebecca. She was really easy to talk to and had an ability to make you feel at ease and really open up about how you feel. I shocked myself as to how much I said and the way it made me feel. The process was really interesting, and I felt like the time flew talking to her. I now have some useful tools that help me identify triggers and I use them every time I feel like I am losing control.”
