A successful high-flyer in HR, he went from abandoning his own health and needs to gaining freedom and structure in his best role ever.
“A better second half.” That's what he came to me for – and who doesn't want that?
A successful mover and shaker in HR, he’d just landed an exciting new contract role. He was clear about what he didn't want this time – to be swallowed up by the job, to lose himself in it, or to keep abandoning his health to it, the way he had before.
At the start of every client journey, I ask people to rate the pillars that matter most to them out of 10. We talk it through, get clear about priorities, and build one habit experiment at a time from there. Morning routines, he told me, had previously been “a bit of a lottery”. Over nine months and just four coaching sessions, that changed dramatically. He also discovered space for learning and reflection; improved his health and eating habits after years of feeling disordered around food; enhanced his sleep; created a genuine boundary between work and home; and developed a stronger sense of who he is, independent of the job title.
By session four, here's what had shifted for him:
[CHART: Order & organisation 7→9 · Learning & insight 3→10 · Health 4→8 · Sleep 5→10 · Switching off 1→6 · Sense of identity 4→8]
(scores self-rated out of 10, against the pillars he identified as most meaningful to him)
Every score had moved. He landed his next big role not long afterwards, and called to tell me about it, his voicenotes buzzing with excitement.
“People spend money on PTs, life coaches, apps and systems,” he told me, “but none of it truly lands if you don't start with the unsexy stuff: your habits.”
When the habit work goes deep enough, something bigger always follows. It never fails to land. A better second half? It certainly became one.
“Habits coaching has felt like a gift to myself and a genuine investment in both my present and future. It's been flexible and entirely bespoke.”
